What’s the Deal With Mona Vie?
Note From Admin: The following article is copied and pasted from a submitted comment by a reader:
If you make a claim about MonaVie, please cite references that prove your conclusions. PLEASE drop the Ad hominem attacks against individuals and rationally debate/discuss the facts and arguments presented about YOUR product and business
Questions:
1) Why won’t the corporate enforcement arm of the company STOP the unprofessional and illegal health claims. How many YEARS will it take for MV to comply with FDA and FTC regulations? How many distributors have been fired and reported to the FDA and FTC for illegal health and wealth claims? How many web sites have been shut down by MonaVie? WHAT is the CEO doing to fix the problem.. because it is and always was HIS JOB to fix it!
2) Why is “Dr. Lou Niles” (a convicted rapist and child molester, liar, and FRAUD figure) still allowed to be a MonaVie distributor, profiting from his despicable and illegal behavior (pretending to be a Cancer specialist to lure in distributors while speaking at a large Black Diamond event)? IF MonaVie is such a “Christian” company, then why not distance yourselves from crooks and con-men among your ranks?
3) Why is corporate so secretive and slow to deliver on promises about 3rd party verification of the product and 3rd party verification of financial claims? If they want to claim 3 Billion in earnings (or whatever the figure is), why not PROVE it?
It appears that the CEO (Mr. Larsen) has done a dismal job at running the company and has failed to avoid the same problems (illegal health claims) that HE caused his former employer (Royal Tongan Limu Juice) which was fined $2M, shut down by the FDA, and $3 Million in product destroyed. MonaVie seems to be headed for the same fate because they refuse to obey the law of the land (as well as common sense).
Why all of the illegal, untruthful, and deceptive advertising? Even the “supposed” 3rd party “studies” are tainted, and poorly conceived. Most of the MonaVie are studies are Junk Science performed by the inventor/patent holder of the product, with 6-12 people as a sample size. How much more biased can you get?
Is MonaVie the freeze-dried acai berry or vice-versa? NO , so stop advertising the ORAC score of the powder, since MV has a dismal ~23.0 u/mole ORAC score according to Schauss.
Is 4 oz of MonaVie actually equivalent to 5-13 servings of fruits? NO
Is MonaVie “packed with vitamins and minerals”? NO Just look at the label!
There are several ILLEGAL HEALTH CLAIMS and incorrect statements on the MAIN PAGE of this site!! Examples below:
MonaVie is an “all natural fruit drink “
**There are NO preservatives?? **Wrong. Correct me if I am mistaken, but much of the vitamin C in MonaVie is ADDED, meaning that all of the vitamin C does not come from the freeze-dried acai and freeze-dried fruits (most of the fruit juices are reconstituted from powder), nor the ~4 fruits they puree and add in when bottling.
“Word has it that this fruit juice offers folks loads of long-lasting energy, improvements with certain aspects of their health and much more. Some of the health benefits Mona Vie provides to consumers are improvements in bowels, enhanced energy levels that last for hours, better memory and less dozing off at the office and a lot of people have claimed that they begin to sleep better after using this product. “
and also “Some might say that it is a miracle drink, and it has been for many folks,…“
also “However; there have been documentations where Mona Vie has helped people who were diagnosed with certain types of cancer, and the overall consensus of Mona Vie is that it has helped many people to improve their health in one way or more. “
** PLEASE provide us with this “documentations”! I’m sure oncologists around the world are waiting!
Also most/many of the bulleted items under “Benefits of Mona Vie “ are not true, just illegal, false HYPE.
and lastly: “The company guarantees that some conditions can improve and folks will feel more energetic; mentally and physically enhanced, but they do not claim to have a product that is a prescription or cure for more serious conditions. However; there are proven statistics that Mona Vie has helped folks with critical illnesses to feel stronger and overcome the illnesses.
Mona Vie has one main goal: to provide a safe and healthy product to consumers, for the sole benefit of the general public’s mental and physical health. All manufactured goods are thoroughly researched and tested before they reach any customer’s home.”
**PLEASE provide proof and statistics that MonaVie **guarantees** that **some** conditions can improve and folks will feel more energetic; mentally and physically enhanced, and that it improves mental health! Is Sodium Benzoate (the preservative in MonaVie) “healthy”? Please explain why you think so.
**Unless the specific health benefits listed above have been documented and scientifically proven to be truthful and TYPICAL, the FDA has said it is illegal to promote a product in this fashion. Despicable and Criminal!
“This fruit drink was developed by scientists and medical experts “
**Really? Please provide the names and credentials of the “medical experts” involved with the development of MonaVie.
“Mona Vie is packed full of antioxidants and all of the nutrients each person needs in their daily meal planning.”
**Patently FALSE! MonaVie does NOT contain “all of the nutrients each person needs in their daily meal planning”, on the contrary, MonaVie represents a very small fraction of those nutrients, and actually provides less nutrients and antioxidants than ½ an apple). Look at the Nutrition Facts on the label, as well as studies performed by Dr. Schauss, and compare it to the USDA ORAC table for verification of this fact.
“Since 2005, Mona Vie has spread its business to several locations across the United States and to other countries, like Europe and the Middle East. “
**Really? PLEASE show us where Europe and the Middle East are listed as COUNTRIES (aside from your own web page).
The main page states: “Mona Vie provides new business owners with everything necessary to gather a clientele, advertise the fruit juice and continue to earn money, on one’s own or from their network of followers and customers. “
**If that is true, why is there a 70% or more drop out rate among distributors??
Was the main page reviewed and approved by corporate?? It appears NOT. And where is the distributor number (as required by corporate policies and procedures).
What kind of lawless, triangle-shaped “tree” company is this? Do you expect anyone to believe anything MonaVie sales folk say given the C- Better Business Bureau rating (improved from an earlier F rating), bad PR on the internet (as shown here), and rampant lawlessness? Not Me, I won’t fall for it!
